== Purpose ==

To ensure socket outlets are replaced safely, correctly and in accordance with company standards.

== Required Equipment ==

* Approved Voltage Indicator
* Proving Unit
* Lock Off Kit
* Hand Tools
* Appropriate Test Equipment

== Procedure ==

=== 1. Assess The Existing Installation ===

* Inspect the condition of the existing socket and surrounding area.
* Identify any signs of overheating, damage or poor workmanship.
* Confirm the socket rating is suitable for the circuit.

=== 2. Safe Isolation ===

* Follow the JME Safe Isolation Procedure.
* Isolate the circuit.
* Lock off the supply.
* Prove dead before commencing work.

=== 3. Remove Existing Socket ===

* Remove the faceplate carefully.
* Inspect all conductors and terminations.
* Check for signs of overheating, loose connections or damaged insulation.

=== 4. Replace Socket ===

* Transfer conductors to the new accessory.
* Ensure all conductors are fully inserted and securely terminated.
* Confirm CPC continuity is maintained.
* Avoid excessive bare copper being exposed.

=== 5. Inspect Cable Management ===

* Ensure cables are correctly routed within the back box.
* Avoid trapped or damaged conductors.
* Confirm accessory sits flush against the wall.

=== 6. Re-Energise Circuit ===

* Remove lock off equipment.
* Restore supply safely.
* Check the socket operates correctly.

=== 7. Testing ===

Carry out appropriate testing, including:

* Polarity
* Earth Continuity
* Functional Testing

Record results where required.
